Charity of 2026: Stichting Jarige Job

Every child deserves a birthday!

In the Netherlands there are children who cannot celebrate their birthday because their families cannot afford it. Stichting Jarige Job helps by giving a birthday box to these children. The birthday box contains everything needed for a great birthday celebration, at home and at school. Every year, more than 176,000 children celebrate their birthday with the help of Jarige Job!

OUR STORY

In the Netherlands, children celebrate their birthday with presents, a wonderfully decorated chair at the breakfast table, and handing out of tasty treats to classmates at school. But the Netherlands Institute of Social Research (SCP) found that at least tens of thousands of children in the Netherlands don’t celebrate their birthday because there isn’t enough money at home. Stichting Jarige Job helps these children by gifting them a birthday box.

The Jarige Job birthday box is worth 35 euro and includes several items to celebrate a birthday at home and in the classroom. The Jarige Job (birthday boy/girl) receives at least two gifts, a book, balloons and decorations, birthday cake ingredients and candles, candy to share with friends, snacks and lemonade. Stichting Jarige Job works together with food banks and several foundations that aim to help children living in poverty.

Stichting Jarige Job has grown significantly over the past few years. In 2023, we helped 147,240 children to celebrate their birthdays. In 2024, we expect to send out at least 150,000 boxes. To achieve this, Stichting Jarige Job fully depends on financial donations and gifts from companies, funds and private doners.
